Problem: The signal from our field transmitter is sent to both our DCS and a PLC in a remote area. The trouble is that disconnecting the leads at the PLC results in a loss of signal to both.
Solution: Installing a buffer, like the SIY PC-Programmable Signal Isolator, prevents a failure at the PLC from propagating to the DCS. It also breaks the common galvanic path, effectively eliminating development of a ground loop.
