Selecting Smart Temperature Transmitters for General, Hazardous, and Process Safety Applications

Today most engineers and technicians requiring temperature measurements for critical processes need to meet comprehensive safety requirements and potentially difficult or remote installations while taking into consideration the costs of a project.  In October’s issue of IPP&T (Industrial Process Products & Technology), Moore Industries’ article titled Selecting Smart Temperature Transmitters for General, Hazardous, and Process Safety Applications (p. 10) is an in-depth discussion of data delivery, operating characteristics, diagnostics, and installation needs.

The article also discusses reducing costs by using dual input temperature transmitters in a real-world application. The application demonstrates how to save money using a dual input to read HART data from two sensors into one HART input on a BPCS or PLC, eliminating a second input point. The sensors can be configured for different purposes such as a redundant backup, get the average between two sensor readings, or measure the difference in temperature across a heat exchanger, BTU calculations and more.  Learn more about what goes into selecting a smart temperature transmitter.
