Moore Industries is the Headline Sponsor of IET’s Nuclear Engineering Conference

UK Nuclear 2016 AttendeesOn March 17, 2016, the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) held its Nuclear Engineering for Safety, Control and Security Conference in Bristol, United Kingdom. Moore Industries was proud to be the headline sponsor of the event.

Topics at the conference included cyber security, obsolescence and legacy upgrades, compliance requirements and new nuclear builds.

An integral vetting methodology for devices in the UK nuclear world is the EMPHASIS method. EMPHASIS assesses a device’s compliance with the IEC 61508 Functional Safety standard, along with other requirements specific to the UK nuclear industry. In 2004, Moore Industries was engaged by British Energy (known today as EDF Energy) specifically to develop guidelines for this assessment and now manufactures the EMPHASIS-assessed SPA2, STA and STZ products for nuclear applications.

Paul Harris, Moore Industries Sales & Technical Manager (EMEA), was in attendance at the conference and spotlighted our EMPHASIS-assessed products. These reliable instruments, combined with Moore Industries’ competence and experience in obsolescence and legacy upgrade solutions, allowed this conference to be a prime opportunity to promote Moore Industries to senior engineers, managers and regulators in the UK nuclear industry.
