E-HELP: Monitoring and Alarming on Critical HART Data with the HIM

E-HELP: Monitoring and Alarming on Critical HART Data with the HIM
Q: Is the SPA2 Limit Alarm Trip compatible with HART and can you pass HART through the unit? Our application is a control valve with a loss of signal cutout. We are using the SPA2 for this with position feedback via a Tri-Loop.

A: The SPA2 HLPRG model can be added to an existing HART loop without disrupting the existing HART communications on the loop. However, the optional analog output of the SPA2 will not contain any of the HART digital components so it won’t be useful for connecting to the Tri-Loop.

E-HELP: Replacing a DCA With an SPA2

E-HELP: Replacing a DCA With an SPA2

Q: We have been using Moore Industries DCA series switches for some time. Is there a like-for-like digital microprocessor-based replacement available?

E-HELP: Monitoring Gas Turbine Magnetic Pickup Frequencies

E-HELP: Monitoring Gas Turbine Magnetic Pickup Frequencies
Q: I am monitoring up to 13600 Hz from a magnetic pickup on a gas turbine for speed indication and would like to use the FDY Frequency-to-DC Converter. Can either the PRG or 10-250V input option handle this input frequency?

E-HELP: Telling the Difference Between a Low Signal and a Lost Signal

E-HELP: Telling the Difference Between a Low Signal and a Lost Signal
Q: I have a question about the ECA-DIN Current and Voltage Alarm with the DH1L1 (Dual, High/Low, Failsafe) output option. The literature for the product says that "the failsafe relays are de-energized in an alarm condition or during power loss to the unit." Is this statement also true if there is a loss of input signal such as a broken wire?

E-HELP: Splitting an RTD or Thermocouple Input

E-HELP: Splitting an RTD or Thermocouple Input
Q: We are looking to take an RTD or thermocouple signal input and output it to two 4-20mA outputs. We also could take the same temperature input and output the same signal twice. What are our options?
